Disc golf probably seems silly to many, and I think it's kind of like wrestling, where once you get over that initial hump, you start to realize how special it can be- while also recognizing that you're really just throwing plastic at metal but probably hitting wood instead.
Anyway.
My disc golf journey began two years ago from the moment this is written-March 1, 2020. Just weeks before the pandemic really interrupted out daily lives.
Disc golf got me through the pandemic. It was an escape. An excuse. It kept me moving. It kept me outside. It kept me sane.
In a roundabout way that probably wouldn't make sense to anyone, it also lead to my desire to learn animation and motion design.
At the time of creation, I felt stuck. Unable to execute my vision. Unable to get any further than a rough sketch of a half-formed idea. But after joining the School of Motion x Adobe webinar on 2/24/22, I felt rejuvenated. Relieved. Inspired.
I was able to push past the initial and ensuing resistance, and execute an entire project. I gathered references, dabbled in character design, sketched, illustrated, designed, animated, and set the whole thing to music. And I made it all as silly as I could. All to say goodbye to the discs that never made it back to my bag for all sorts of different reasons.
Sketched and filled in Fresco. Moved to illustrator to refine. Photoshop to organize and prepare for After Effects to compose.
